Managing a London Commercial Roof Against the Clock
Not every project is won with tools in hand, this one was won in the meeting room, keeping every trade moving toward a fixed completion date.
While working as a contracts manager for a large Hampshire-based roofing company, Andy was brought onto a commercial project in Stratford, London, a rooftop looking directly out over the Olympic Park and London Stadium, to help get the job over the line ahead of a fixed completion date.
This wasn't tools-on-roof work. Andy's role here was entirely contract management: running site meetings, coordinating the different trades and installation teams, and keeping everyone moving toward the same deadline. It's a side of the job that rarely gets photographed but matters just as much as the roofing itself, a project only finishes on time if someone is making sure every team knows what they need to deliver and when.
Outcome
The project completed on schedule, a reminder that three decades in the trade means knowing how to run a job from the office as well as from the roof.
