Flat Roofing Repair

Ponding water, blistering or a split membrane, flat roof repairs across Plymouth and Devon, diagnosed at the actual cause.

Flat roof failures tend to come from a small set of causes: inadequate falls leading to standing water, which accelerates membrane wear at that spot; blistering from trapped moisture or gas expanding under a bonded membrane; splits or punctures from foot traffic, debris or UV degradation; and failed detailing at upstands, outlets or junctions, which is where the large majority of flat roof leaks actually originate rather than in the open field of the membrane.

Sherford Roofing repairs flat roofs across Plymouth and Devon, GRP, EPDM, felt and single-ply, diagnosing the actual fault before recommending a patch repair, a section replacement, or a full re-cover where the roof has reached the end of its useful life.

Our Process

Step 1

Inspect the Roof

We check the membrane, falls, outlets and every junction, most flat roof leaks originate at a detail, not in the open field of the membrane.

Step 2

Diagnose the Fault

Ponding, blistering, a split, or a failed detail are each identified before any repair is quoted.

Step 3

Repair or Replace Section

Localised repairs are made to match the existing system; more extensive damage may need a larger section replaced.

Step 4

Check the Fix

The repair is checked to confirm the roof is fully watertight before we finish.

Got Questions?

Flat Roofing Repair FAQs

Usually inadequate falls, the roof wasn't built with enough slope to shed water to the outlets, or falls have settled over time. Standing water accelerates membrane wear at that spot and is worth correcting rather than ignoring.

Trapped moisture or gas beneath a bonded membrane, which expands as it heats in the sun. It's a sign the membrane isn't fully or correctly bonded at that point and typically needs a localised repair.

Most leaks can be repaired locally if the rest of the membrane is in good condition. A full re-cover only makes sense where damage is widespread or the roof is reaching the end of its material lifespan, Andy will give an honest view of which applies.
